NGCV's first ever Green Week was a great success and is encouraging all our organisations to do more together and individually to build momentum and involve staff, the public and artists and cultural practitioners in thinking and behaving more sustainably, as well as promoting green ideas, activities and engagement.

Pick almost any day of the year, choose any of the 20 unique venues and sites operated by NGCV and you will find creative educators turning theatres, dance studios, cinemas, museums, Roman forts, music venues and galleries into places of wonder and learning and reaching out into communities to engage and support creativity.  There is something exciting and surprising available for every age group and for people of hugely diverse backgrounds.

NGCV is working closely with Gateshead College and the regional skills and enterprise programme Go>Grow programme to roll out training to improve the skills of the employees and volunteers, who work in our 20 venues and heritage sites across Tyneside, as well as promote the opportunities across the cultural sector.  Hundreds of people are already benefitting from the fully funded training.

NGCV is calling for written quotations for research into the feasibility, options, opportunities challenges and costs of a unified Customer Relationship Management, ticketing and What'sOn system.  Deadline for submissions is noon on 31st October 2017.

From Saturday 9th to Sunday 17th September, our venues will be hosting a wide range of green activities for the public and staff to get involved in - from a mass paper plae throw, to building a better world with recycled materials, a clothes swap and green storytimes.  People can also share their green ideas and travel habits and have the chance to win one of our fantastic prizes.  Go on, get involved!

Congratulations to Sunderland for making the shortlist for UK City of Culture.  We are thrilled that they have made it to the final four. They will submit their second stage bid in the Autumn, with a decision expected by the end of the year.  Find out more and carry on supporting their 2021 bid.

Ben Dickenson joins NGCV from September to lead on developing City of Dreams, a new, ambitious programme for children and young people in NewcastleGateshead, putting them at the heart of the programme, with genuine influence and a wide range of opportunities from cradle to career.
