The Insider inspires!

14th March 2017

Innovative project The Insider, a consortium-led venture that brings more arts and cultural experiences to more people in Newcastle and Gateshead, is taking things to a new level. A big marketing drive for new members has led to more than 800 sign ups in the last month and a 13,500 strong membership which is set to grow significantly over the coming months.

A flagship project for Newcastle Gateshead Cultural Venues, we are working in partnership to create a shared market for the arts and culture, which encourages audiences to diversify their experiences and visit new venues. The organisations behind The Insider are: BALTIC, Dance City, Life Science Centre, Live Theatre, Northern Stage, Sage Gateshead, Seven Stories, Tyne & Wear Archives & Museums and Tyneside Cinema.

Anyone can sign up to The Insider for free at www.thisistheinsider.com.

Members receive what’s on information, events and offers by email, bringing together top picks from across 19 different venues on Tyneside, together in one place.

Recent research with members shows extremely high satisfaction with the service, which is unique in the UK. Members are delighted to have found something that combines an offer from multiple venues together in one place, and there’s evidence that it’s having a strong impact on people’s lives and their engagement with art and culture.

Members are not only thrilled to be finding out about new experiences:

"Through The Insider we have discovered Northern Stage, which we didn't know existed.”

But for some members the impacts are even more profound:

Receiving The Insider has made my life more interesting - I have gone to events I would otherwise not have known about."

Iain Watson, Director, Tyne & Wear Archives & Museums and lead NGCV CEO for The Insider said:

“The Insider is a fantastic initiative that helps more people find out about a more diverse range of cultural experiences. We’re extremely encouraged by the feedback we’ve had from members and there’s clearly a demand for the work we’re doing. The project is the envy of many consortia across the country and we’ll be working hard to build on its success and develop the business model. I would highly recommend joining The Insider to anyone with an interest in getting out and experiencing the great arts and culture we have here in Newcastle and Gateshead.”

The Insider is funded by Esmée Fairbairn Foundation and underpinned by Morris Hargreaves McIntyre’s audience segmentation model ‘Culture Segments’.
