Our Ladies of Perpetual Succour, National Theatre of Scotland and Live Theatre’s raucous hit show, has won the Best New Comedy Award at the 2017 Olivier Awards.

Following its critically acclaimed run at the National Theatre in London last year the show had also picked up a nomination in the category of Best Actress in a Supporting Role, for which the eight cast members shared a nomination.

Max Roberts, Artistic Director Live Theatre said: “I am happy to have collaborated with National Theatre of Scotland and Lee Hall to bring Our Ladies to the stage. I am delighted for the girls and all concerned for their recognition. I am also thrilled that Sonia Friedman has the conviction to put the show on in the West End from May where it can be enjoyed by even more people.”

Since debuting at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2015 Our Ladies of Perpetual Succour has picked up seven award wins and a further five nominations, including a Scotsman Fringe First, a Herald Angel Award, a Stage Award for Acting Excellence, and a CATS Award for Best Music & Sound. The show was also among the first winners at this year’s inaugural Tonic Theatre Awards, celebrating the role of women in the theatre industry.

Our Ladies of Perpetual Succour is set to transfer to London’s West End in spring 2017.  Presented by Sonia Friedman Productions, Scott M. Delman and Tulchin Bartner Productions, the National Theatre of Scotland and Live Theatre’s production will arrive at the Duke of York’s Theatre, previewing from 9 May 2017 and playing for a limited 17-week run, with a press performance on 15 May 2017.
