NewcastleGateshead Chapter Launches

23rd July 2015

What Next? is a national initiative which was launched in 2011 when the question ‘what next?’ was raised in response to the funding cuts. The aim is to get artists, cultural professionals, MP’s and anyone who is interested in the future of the arts in Britain to engage with one another and to discuss what is next for arts and culture. The London chapter still meets every week to have these discussions and since then regional chapters have popped up all over the country.

Newcastle and Gateshead Cultural Partnerships are now launching the What Next? NewcastleGateshead chapter. The first meeting will be at 12.30-1.30pm on 3rd September at the Theatre Royal and anyone who has an interest in arts and culture is welcome to attend.

A guest speaker from an existing What Next? chapter will help guide participants on how to move the chapter forwards. Although the first meeting has a set agenda to help get the chapter off the ground, the expectation is that the members take ownership of What Next?.

NewcastleGateshead Cultural Venues (NGCV) are members of the current cultural partnerships and will be enthusiastic members of the new NewcastleGateshead chapter.
